an enchanting evening of storytelling, poetry, & Spring magic with Kevan Manwaring & you! Time 7.15PM-10PM £10/8 conc. on the door. On the evening of the Spring Equinox full moon - a time of balance between night and day, and the highest tide of the year, we'll use the ancient arts of story and poetry to celebrate the turning of the wheel. The evening will begin with a bardic performance by Kevan, former Bard of Bath; next, he'll take you through a playshop in bardic inspiration and performance; before the grand finale - a co-created story-ceremony inspired by this special time, and a chance to share any seasonal musings/prayers/intentions. Together, we'll kindle the'‘fire in the head', and on a wave of Spring energy, stand up and shine!

Take your bardic vow and embark upon your bardic journey in earnest with the support of a friendly, skilled and knowledgeable peer group. Make 2011 the Year of the Awen!

Way of Awen weekend
Group Event. Cae Mabon, Snowdonia, North Wales

The Way of Awen weekend is a chance to connect with the Awen and replenish the cauldron in an inspiring, legend-soaked location. We'll be exploring different bardic techniques ancient and modern and working with the awen in whatever way it manifests – stories, poetry, songs, movement, responding to the spirit of place and the tales of the land. The weekend will consist of a balanced programme of guided activities and free time; working apart, in pairs and in groups; time in nature and evenings of sharing in the roundhouse; walks and stillness; peacefulness and camaraderie; relaxation and raising the energy. The elements will be our constant companions and teachers: wind, sun and rain, hot tub and fire, stars and trees, mountains and lakes... Bardic initiation can take place for those who wish to dedicate themselves to the Way of Awen, or renew their commitment. Ideal for anyone who wishes to explore storytelling, poetry, creativity & bardic mysteries. No experience required.

Run by storyteller and author Kevan Manwaring, winner of the Bardic Chair of Bath, experienced performer and workshop leader (UK, Italy, Malta, USA). His long awaited follow-up to The Bardic Handbook (Gothic Image 2006), The Way of Awen, is published by O Books, June 2010 and participants will have an advanced preview of its contents.
