Part 1 October and November 2010 continuing in to 2011 Working with the Body
Dorchester Facilitator: Auberon Finch

This is a course for Psychotherapists and Counsellors who have recently graduated (but not necessarily accredited) and for experienced therapists who would like to develop their practice with more experience, knowledge and understanding of psycho-somatic process. There are three main themes to the course:

  1. Personal enquiry into the body through experiential work, ie. exploring your own relationship to the body;
  2. A deepening of knowledge and understanding of how our bodies take shape and form, and function, in response to psychological experience;
  3. An exploration of the various ways a therapist can involve and use the body in healing work.

So, the course is a blend of personal experiential work; the expansion of knowledge/understanding via reading (printed notes), talks, discussion and demonstrations and seeing how the body can become a crucially important therapeutic friend in the process of bringing people more fully into the vitality of their life. The organising ethos of the course is grounded in an integrative theoretical stance that is strongly influenced by Buddhist psychotherapeutic principles (CPP).

Part 1. 2010 2 & 3rd October - Body/Mind processes
20th 21st November - Psychosomatic Segments

Part 2. 2011 5th & 6th March - Introduction to Body and Character
23rd & 24th April - Working therapeutically with the Body
